Cantina Valpolicella Negrar, 2014

Il progetto nasce dal desiderio di creare una cantina, che aiuti la produzine del vino e che di conseguenza migliori il prestigio del marchio della cantina Valpolicella Negrar.

The project born from the desire to create a building for wine, which container to enhance the product and consequently increase the prestige of the brand Valpolicella wine cellar Negrar providing it with spaces turned to insiders and visitors giving a greater input to the culture of wine, as a meeting place and challenging for culture and tourism. The concept is developed through a rational - geometric composition, linked to reports of size and volume of solids and voids, which defines a production building recognizable as a representative and communicative important element for success on the wine market.
In plan, the building is divided into three functional blocks, which extend north-south axis:
- Administrative offices, located in the south;
- The production area with the Fruit Store and warehouse in the center of the building;
- The Wine Museum, with tasting rooms, library and media center to the north.
The new building develops fully on two floors and has a structure in wood, with pilasters whose sectional shape is inspired by one of the elements that characterize the grapes of the area: the pergola Veronese.
The function blocks administrative (office), manufacturing (loft and warehouse) and cultural (Wine Museum), is organized in order to maximize the flexibility of the space plan of the new building, and to have continuity with the existing one. The accesses are clearly distinct: Access to the offices is located on the southern front, the production area along the eastern side of the square and adjacent to the Museum of Wine on the north side. Episode qualifying project is the Wine Museum, which has the function to “open” the cellar in the territory and the world as a place where wine tasting is associated with knowledge of its tradition and the technical knowledge of production activity research and study. Particular attention has been paid to the definition of a guided tour to the areas of production and storage of wine, which penetrate environments but did not interfere with them. This path which skirts the administrative area ends at level 1 in the tasting area, which has an extension on the terrace; another panoramic terrace is located on the roof of the Museum. The building “cellar” takes on a new role, which supplants that of mere shell, although functionally responsive to the needs of the Cantina Valpolicella Negrar and becomes an important and complex “machine” within a broader communication strategy and corporate marketing.
